Bearded irises are vibrant, versatile plants that deserve a place in any garden. Relatively easy to grow they come in all colours apart from a true fire engine red. The iris plant actually takes its name from the Greek word for iris and means ‘rainbow’. World wide there are over 30,000 tall bearded iris hybrids alone. Some irises have been bred in New Zealand, some even here in Hawke’s Bay. Check out the NZ Bred or HB Collection tabs. We have over 700 different irises in our nursery – some are fragrant, others rebloom throughout the year. All are stunning!
